Eddie Bauer opened his first sports shop in Seattle in 1920. He started out by developing the Bauer shuttlecock for badminton, and then the Skyliner, the first goose down jacket, which he patented in 1940. After introducing the first down insulated sleeping bag, he began producing gear and garments for the war. His company’s label is the only one ever sewn into government-issued products. In 1968, he sold the company to William Niemi. Throughout the years, he raised Labrador Retrievers and continued to hunt and fish and even patented a trolling lure. Bauer passed away in 1986 after a lifetime of building his brand known for high functionality, quality and a satisfaction guaranteed policy.
Now the Eddie Bauer licensed brand has branched out into baby products. They are manufactured by the Dorel Juvenile Group which also manufactures Safety 1st, Cosco, Quinny, Maxi-Cosi and Disney. The company’s main concerns are affordability, safety, and quality in all their products including high chairs, play yards, car seats, infant carriers, bouncenettes, strollers, childproofing devices and wooden furniture.
Current Eddie Bauer strollers on the market are Convenience, Sport, Umbrella Plus, and Transit Tandem. The five travel systems are Adventurer, Adventurer Sport, Trailmaker, and two Endeavor models. They are known for having a one-hand fold and stand feature, and a large storage area. The umbrella stroller is lightweight, compact when folded, and has swivel tires. The travel systems come with a wide variety of options and accessories. Eddie Bauer strollers receive good reviews with the cons listed as bulkiness and heaviness.
