Choosing the Paint Color for a Baby Room

The last thing you want with a baby on the way is more stress in your life. Unfortunately, choosing what color to paint your baby’s room can be difficult. There has been a lot of research and studies performed on the psychology behind the color of a baby room.

While the color that you paint your baby’s room is important, you should not make it more stressful than it needs to be. Painting a baby room should be a fun activity. Your excitement for your new child can be carried over into painting the room. Before you begin, you should have a basic understanding of the psychology behind the color of paint in a baby room.

You will spend a lot of time working with a color wheel when you are selecting a paint color for your baby room. The color wheel is divided into two types of colors. Almost all of the colors on a color wheel are either considered warm or cool. The warm section consists of shades of red and yellow. The cool section is made up of blue and green. Warm colors are considered stimulating and more welcoming than cool colors. However, cool colors can help soothe your senses.

The color that you choose for your baby room is very important. Babies start perceiving the colors around them from birth. As they grow, their senses will be stimulated by the colors that are around them. You will want to create an environment in your baby room that stimulates learning and play. You may also want to promote a sense of calm in your baby.

Green is a good selection to promote peace of mind.

It will help improve your baby’s self esteem while still promoting a playful atmosphere. Yellow is a common color used in baby rooms.

Yellow promotes energy and happiness.

A lot of people use it to brighten up an otherwise dull room. However, overusing yellow can be unsettling for a young baby.

Red is another color that is said to energize babies.

However, it can be overpowering and should be used in conjunction with another paint color. Orange is one of the best paint colors for a baby room.

Orange  combines the positive aspects of red and yellow.

Bright shades of orange will promote a playful environment, while darker shades of orange will comfort your baby.

Neutral Paint Colors

Neutral paint colors can also be used in a baby room. Neutral colors include brown, white, beige and cream. Neutral colors can be used to tone down some of the brighter paint colors. White is a good color for small baby rooms. It will make the room appear larger than it really is. However, it can be hard to keep the white walls clean as a baby grows up.

You may want to speak to a painting contractor about what paint color to choose for your baby room. Painting contractors are trained to know what color is best for each individual room. They will provide guidance while you are selecting a color and can help lower your stress by painting the baby room for you.
