History:

It began with the AM General Company in 1903. A few names changes, purchases, and division openings later, the Jeep brand came to be. In 1912 the Willys-Overland Company was formed. The first automobiles released by these companies were the Runabout and Whippet. In the 1940s they introduced the first Jeep. During this time they opened the Defense Government Products Division and contracted with the government and the post office to design and manufacture specialty vehicles. Today they possess a multi-year contract with the U.S. Army to produce such models as the high selling Humvee. In 1970 American Motors Corporation purchased the company. Now the popular automobile manufacturing company has branched into several diverse products including strollers and baby products. Their strollers are made by Kolcraft.
